I have to tell you guys, I’m really starting to love these coffee dates we have. I love coffee (duh) and I love chatting with you all. Not that sharing recipes is a bad thing, because it’s totally not, but there’s more to me than making piles of dirty dishes.
So grab your coffee and pull up a seat.
I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful husband right now. I mean, he’s always wonderful, but we’ve been having some really good conversations lately and making sure to take some extra time and effort with each other. I think this is so important right now, with me in school and him working. We’re at different points in our lives, so that could cause difficulties. He wakes up early and goes to a job where he works so hard and comes home to our family and home. I wake up early and go into school and clinic. Then I come home to my family and home, and do homework and study… I can’t wait for the day that we can sit on the couch and watch tv together at night without a textbook on my lap! But until then, we’ve got a pretty good schedule down.
I think I broke my jaw. We were clipping Charlie’s nails last night and he squirmed to get down and knocked me in the jaw really hard. It felt like a crack, and now I have a sharp pain in my jaw/ear region. It hurts bad every time I open my mouth really wide. I’ve never broken a bone in my body before, so I highly doubt it’s broken, it just hurts bad. Have to keep an eye on it I guess. And remember not to clip Charlie’s nails again soon…
I had a slice of carrot cake from Costco yesterday for a co-worker’s birthday and it was incredible! I’ve heard good things before, but never actually tried it until now. It actually had a very thin layer of lemon filling in between the cake layers that added something to carrot cake that I never even knew was missing. I never even would have thought of adding lemon to it, but it worked in the best way possible. Definitely taking note of that one!
I currently have over 800 pictures on my phone. Mostly of food. They are all saved on my computer in various places, so I suppose it’s time to clean those up. I also have a heck of a mess of photos from the blog all over my computer. I’ve been trying to be good about organizing everything since the first of this year, but stuff from before then is a hot mess. All over the place! Maybe I’ll make that a spring break project for myself.
I can’t stop baking fresh bread from my new cookbook find. So far we’ve tried the boule and baguettes. I have plans for pitas in the near future. The technique is just so simple! Yeast is something that can be a little scary to work with, and this book is pretty much written for dummies like me to follow. It’s great! I mean, there’s no kneading, so you never have to worry about over or under mixing. And you can’t beat the crust of the artisan breads. Also, it’s written using cups for measurements, so I don’t to look up conversions of weight measurements online, or go buy a kitchen scale (Please don’t hate on me for this – I would love a kitchen scale some day. I just want to bake bread NOW and I don’t own one.).
And I just saw this video from Parks and Rec for the 100th time and can’t stop laughing.
Happy Tuesday! Enjoy your coffee

Sorry about the jaw. It doesn’t sound like its broken though, but he may have dislodged the disc located in your jaw “socket” for lack of a better term. I have severe TMJ (severe may be an overstretch as I’m still able to function) and I get inner ear and jaw pain in my right temple daily. I yawned to wide and my disc popped out and won’t go back in completely. I hope that yours is able to resolve itself (try Ibuprofen and a warm compress nightly for a week). Otherwise, the pain will persist until the nerves behind the jaw bone have deadened (and just a heads up, mine has been “painful” for 8 months). The doctor said it should be about a year…I really hope you don’t have the same thing I do!!

Thanks for the advice Alyssa! I took ibuprofen today and it’s still pretty sore. I’ll have to try the warm compress. Hopefully it starts to feel better soon. The good thing is that it keeps me from yawning in class, because it hurts so bad
